SF Beer Week underway

SF Beer Week started off Friday when I piled beer, jockey box and our brewing team into the old Ford and we hit the road to San Fran. We detoured in Oakland to grab a pint at Beer Revolution 464 3rd Street Oakland - (510) 452-2337. The store had opened the doors for the first time at noon. Fraggle and Rebecca have put together a great little bottleshop that also has 14 taps (and 20 more to come). Friendly people, fantastic selection and a great vibe add up to a must stop. Give them a try and don't forget to order one of our beers!
Next we headed across the bay to Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for the SF Beer Week Opening Gala. This event featured one of the best lineups of great beers ever. It was a beer savy crowd that made the bay area proud. We poured our new Belgian Quad "The Twelve"; a big assertive malty brew that commands respect at 11.5% abv. It's redolent with dark fruit flavors, including raisins, dates and cherries. Supported by a rich, burnt caramel flavor layer in the background. Wonderful in it's brashness, it will continue to improve in the wood barrels. Stay tuned for more updates on this great beer. In addition we poured the Jagged Edge IPA, at 75 IBU and 7.3% it's not often the lightest in the lineup, but this is SF Beer Week folks! When we busted out the Tenzing Imperial Porter the tongues really started to wag. At 8.0% and loaded with cacao nibs and 6 different varieties of whole vanilla beans, this one makes the eyes close and the corners of the mouth lift up. Be sure to seek this very limited beer out soon because it will not last long.
